Humans are taught from a very young age that you should always look both ways before crossing the street. Many parents even make sure their child stays safe by making them hold hands before stepping into the road.
After watching this insanely cute video, taken by Carl Salsbury while he was visiting the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania back in February 2015, you might realize that we are not the only species that takes extra measures in protecting our young when it comes to making their way from one side of the road to the other.
The tiny tots of the elephant kingdom regularly make us laugh with their hijinks, like this baby who forgot "how to elephant" when he discovered the joy of romping in the waves. At 200+ pounds, you can say this calf is one big baby. But size aside, even wild animals need a little encouragement from Mom and Dad when doing something for the first time.
For this elephant family, a little coaxing and some gentle nudging helped to make crossing the street a little less scary for their hesitant little one, while it also unwittingly provided a photographer with a video that's sure to make people smile.
Now if only we had these giant animals by our side to make us feel as safe as this calf probably does!
