Animals and pets hold a very special place in many people’s hearts. Having a dog, cat, bird, bunny, or another domesticated animal can be an extremely rewarding experience for both the animal and the owner. Many parents even bring home pets for their young children to teach them about responsibility and to ensure that they always have a friend to play with, like the parents who finally gave in to their kid's prayers and surprised her with a new puppy.
Because there are so many animal lovers in the world, this also means that there are people who will use that to their advantage, buying and selling exotic animals. Although the people who buy the animals may have the best intentions when bringing home their new pet, some do not realize the difficulty or costs involved in caring for them, and they resort to keeping them in small, confined cages and feeding them whatever food they can afford.
The Borneo Orangutan Rescue has taken on the task of rescuing Indonesian orangutans like Budi and Jemmi, the pair featured in the video below, and nurturing these babies back to health by feeding them the food the would normally eat in the wild. These particular orangutans were rescued from a situation in which they were fed a diet of nothing but condensed milk while they lived in cages all alone.
Just a short while after being rescued, Budi and Jemi now do everything together, from sleeping and eating, to playing with their new group of friends. The two precious faces in this video are now on their way to being healthy and active, a complete 360 from the lives they would have lived if not for this incredible organization.
