New dad Ted Moskalenko from Cherry Hill, NJ, must have been so glad his wife was filming on this particular day. Ted holds his 3-month-old son up and does what any doting dad would. He starts making "baby noises" at him. "Ah boo b00 boo," he says to his baby boy. Ben then giggles with delight. Ted says, "I love you." Then, it happened.
To mom and dad's surprise, Ben says clearly, "I love you," right back. Not only is it completely heartwarming — I mean, just take a look at dad's face — but it's totally unexpected. Babies have at least 12 different ways of non-verbally saying they love you, but hearing it for the first time is pretty special.
Most children don't utter their first word until around 9 months to 12 months. Even then they usually only can say, "no" and "bye-bye," or mimic sounds. However, little Ben has managed to muster up more than a "mama" or "dada" at a mere 3 months old. No wonder dad was totally caught off guard!
At 3 months babies typically aren't very vocal at all. According to WebMD, infants tend to turn their heads toward sounds they enjoy (like their mama's voice) and may be able to muster a few gentle coos. It goes without saying Ben is advanced in a special way: not just his speech but in his showing of affection!
