When I join my family for a trip around the lake, there are few critters I'm expecting to see hanging around — and even more I'm afraid to see!
The group enjoying a nice day celebrating the Fourth of July, however, stumbled upon one of the last animals I would expect to find so far out in the waves. It reminds me of the fisherman who helped out a small deer struggling to keep afloat. Even the animals we're used to seeing in the water can need a hand now and then, like the sweet seal who was recently rescued in Australia.
I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out how the young raccoon in the video below managed to make it, but I'm more impressed by his strength to keep swimming despite being so clearly exhausted. Luckily, the fuzzy cutie was quickly given a life jacket from the boaters who found him paddling away with all his might.
After he curled up onto the safety of the makeshift raft, one of their friends took over in his smaller boat. Hanging on tight to a rope attached to the jacket, he gently glides the poor thing to find dry land. It's really a miracle they were able to spot him before too much more time had passed. I'm sure the small fry was treated to some yummy treats and hopefully a warm blanket when he finally made it back on solid ground.
Take a look and be sure to SHARE the amazing rescue with your friends!
