When you think of the word "superhero," the thought of overly muscular men and women who can fly in brightly colored leotard suits comes to mind.
Paula Andrews, while in wonderful shape, does not have any superpowers that could help save lives. But she's easily proven that just because you can't fly or run faster than the speed of sound like Superman, that doesn't mean you can't be a superhero.
Andrews was dressed up in her beautiful Easter outfit when she heard something quite distressing. It sounded like a baby crying. What was more distressing was where the sound was coming from: the trash compactor!
At first, she assumed it was a child's baby doll toy, just a weird sound to hear coming out of a huge trash heap. But as the crying continued, it became more and more apparent that this was very real. Andrew's self-described "mothering instinct" kicked in, and she leapt into the trash compactor in an instant.
Still in her beautiful dress, she managed to throw over 20 bags out of the compactor before coming across the crying baby. The police arrived and checked up on the baby, who was bleeding slightly and needed to be warmed up. Thankfully, the baby made it through his ordeal all right, but the parents of the child have yet to be found.
While we don't know what's going on in the parent of this child's lives, it's a shame they went this route instead of looking for someone else to leave their baby with. It's horrible to think that they felt this was the only option, but thank goodness Paula Andrews followed her instincts and managed to prove herself to be the hero of the hour.
