As someone currently living in a cramped city apartment, I dream of the day when I'll have a backyard all my own.
Will I have raised garden beds, or in-ground? Could I have both a chicken coop and a compost bin? Should I build a rotisserie pit or a full-blown backyard kitchen?
For now, all of this is just wishful thinking — but I hope that by the time I'm ready for landscaping, I'll know exactly what I want and where I want it.
And when I saw this amazing backyard feature, and how easy it looks, I knew it would be included in my future plans. I might have to take a trip to some hardware stores, but it definitely seems worth it.
However, if this cuts into my chicken coop plans, maybe I'll get some ducklings instead.
Would you like something like this in your backyard?

Step 1: Gather your supplies. You'll need a shovel, a jigsaw, an old tire, gravel, and garden foil.

Step 2: Dig a hole big enough for the tire. Pour sand along the bottom of the hole, then use a level to make it perfectly flat. Place the tire inside.

Step 3: With your jigsaw, cut the upper part of the tire all the way around.

Step 4: Clean out any rocks or sharp items from the tire and the sandy bottom.

Step 5: Line the tires in garden foil, including the exposed lip. If you're making one of the ponds above-ground (levels will add a nice touch!), completely wrap that too. Line the tires in gravel.

Step 6: Lay large stones all around the lips of the tires. This will hold the foil in place. Stack the rocks creatively.

Step 7: Fill the tires with water, then add plants. Decorate to your taste.

Step 8: Enjoy your beautiful backyard ponds!
