Optical Illusion Makes It Look As If This Still Image Is Walking

Our mind is really great at playing tricks on us.

We've all seen plenty of optical illusions in our day, like the ones that make it look like one color is another simply by placing it next to another color, and the ones that seem as if they're moving on the paper even though they're clearly just a printed image.

It may seem like a mystery, but there are actually very complicated and amazing reasons that our brain plays these tricks on us. We've adapted to our reality over the years, and sometimes, perception plays a big part in our ability to survive. Sometimes, perspective or ability to gauge distance can determine whether or not we get hit by a bus when crossing the street. When our brain works with our eyes, the two come together to create the most useful view of the world.

For instance, animated cartoons. That's our brain and eyes working together to connect the still pictures into one fluid, moving picture, bringing it to life. What an amazing thing!

When this man places a sheet of glass with thick, black stripes across it over a printed sheet of what looks like total nonsense, it is actually him about to let our brains play a helpful trick on us.

As the thin windows of clear glass pass over the black on the paper, our brain puts those shapes together to create what seems like a moving image.

If this doesn't makes sense, you've got to see this for yourself!
