Let's face it: There is nothing that kills a moment faster than a waft of bad breath. Whether you're leaning in for a kiss or capping off some sweet verbal gymnastics during a presentation at work, you really don't want an untimely bout of halitosis to steal your thunder. Most of us fall back on the tried-and-true solution of popping a breath mint, but that is really just a bandaid on this particularly icky personal hygiene problem.
If you REALLY want to nip your bad breath in the bud, you're going to have to take your dental care to the next level. Of course, starting early is key, as we saw with this adorable, chomping baby. However, according to this video, what really matters is drinking plenty of water, brushing after each and every meal, and actually flossing. (You can lie to your judgmental dentist until you're blue in the face, but it won't change the outcome of your next Tinder date.)
The video also gives you an in-depth guide of what causes that not-so-fresh feeling, including trapped food particles, stinky food choices (coffee is a stumbling block for many), and the most frequently overlooked bad breath culprit: the tongue. (Hint: Keeping this particular part of your mouth clean involves scraping, and a LOT of it.)
While all of this may be slightly gross to ponder, if you frequently suffer from morning breath, coffee breath, or plain old bad breath, you'll thank us later. Come to think of it, your loved ones probably will, too. Besides, maintaining your mouth now will help you avoid more…um…risky solutions later. I bet this denture-wearing grandma wishes that she had taken care of her teeth like this!
