Nadia Fiore and her family planned to have a nice summer barbecue to enjoy the beautiful weather together. What could be better than some good old-fashioned burgers on the grill?
But right after her son Anthony bit into his juicy burger, she knew something was terribly, terribly wrong.
Anthony said that there was a feeling in his throat that was something like a needle. His mother rushed him right to the hospital, where an X-ray showed a very small, fine needle.
The doctors had seen this before, believe it or not. The needle lodged in his throat was an old stray bristle from a well-used barbecue brush. They scheduled surgery to remove the piece of metal from his throat.
The surgery went well, but that wasn't the end of it. Since the family had used the brush for quite a while, it was covered in bacteria. Anthony developed an infection in his throat.
What a nightmare. Can you imagine driving your child to the hospital, not knowing what could possibly be stuck in his throat, and having no way of knowing if there would be an easy way to fix the problem?
Anthony is doing alright today, but he and his family want to get the message out: Toss those old barbecue brushes! In the video below, find out alternates to the old, apparently very harmful method of cleaning your grill. No one should have to go through a scare like this.
Please SHARE this very important message with your family and friends on Facebook, as I'm sure many folks will be firing up those grills for a last summer hurrah after giving a scrub with the same brush they used all summer long.
