According to a 1998 book entitled The Beanie Baby Handbook, "simply putting away five or ten of each and every new Beanie Baby in super mint condition isn't a bad idea."
The book goes on to suggest that the value of Beanie Babies would greatly increase from decade to decade; for example, what was purchased for $7 in 1998 would be worth $60 by 2008.
What this book didn't know was that, in just a few years, the Beanie Baby craze — like any pop culture phenomenon — would crash and burn as quickly as it had risen.
But for those who have yet to part with their bean-filled collection (mine is currently packed away in the garage, tag protectors still intact), I have some great news: It seems like Beanie Baby values might finally be on the upswing!
Venture over to eBay and you'll see that rare Beanie Babies are currently listed for thousands of dollars. We went through the listings and gathered some of the most eye-catching price tags — like the Princess Diana bear that could buy a new house — to help you get started.
