If I saw a bear walking down the street, it would be the most terrifying moment of my life. I’d switch into full survival mode and probably do a panicked (and ineffective) combination of stop, drop, and roll, duck and covering, seeking shelter, and lots of yelling. Basically, it’s a good thing that I don’t camp or hike in areas with wild bears around!
In Alaska, a black bear sighting is much more common, apparently, and doesn’t seem to faze residents all that much. What did grab their attention about this particular bear sighting, though, was that he had a metal box stuck on his head! Though it’s not clear how he got stuck in the box in the first place, he couldn’t free himself on his own and was in danger of getting hurt with it on its head. The poor thing!
Thankfully, some Good Samaritans (and brave Samaritans, if you ask me) were around to help him out of this metal box. They had to tranquilize the poor bear, but once he was knocked out, they managed to pry the box off of his head and safely free him from his unfortunate situation.
Make sure that if you're in areas with bears nearby, to keep all containers filled with food closed and out of reach from any hungry bears!
