I remember singing my fifth grade choir at school, and while my mom was definitely my biggest fan, I can admit we all sounded pretty awkward and not quite in tune. I'm sure that was super adorable, but there are some youngsters out there who were blessed with a musical talent far beyond their years.
To be honest, you'd probably be hard-pressed to find a voice quite like Beau Dermott at any age. The 12-year-old singer recently stunned the judges over on Britain's Got Talent with her rendition of "Defying Gravity." The hit song from the Broadway musical Wicked is not an easy tune to tackle, but you'd never realize that with how easily Dermott masters it on stage despite her nerves. She was so impressive, in fact, she managed to earn herself acknowledgement from the infamous golden buzzer!
Watching her emotional reaction definitely brought a few happy tears to my eye, too. That's why I loved coming across this performance of another Broadway hit from Dermott just last year. It's clear she takes her passion seriously as she nails the notes in, "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables. The heartbreaking song might seem like an oddly mature choice for the young lady, but she channels all of those tense butterflies into an incredible rendition.
Already on her way to the semi-finals, I think it's safe to say Dermott has a strong chance of making it all the way to the finals, as well! I know I'll be over here rooting for her.
