Beverley Allitt Was The Real Live ‘Angel Of Death’ Nurse Who Killed Babies

It was 1991 when a series of murders involving defenseless little babies took place in a hospital located in Lincolnshire, England.

YouTube channel Real Stories reports on the true crime story of Beverley Allitt, later known as the “angel of death,” who was convicted of killing four children, attempting murder on three other children, and causing grievous bodily harm to six.

The gruesome tale begins in March 1991 when a baby named Paul was admitted to Grantham Hospital as a precautionary measure due to a chest infection. Hours later, the hospital staff in Ward 4 were alarmed when they found Paul to be gray and cold, as he was suffering from a sudden glucose deficiency. Paul luckily recovered from this incident.

Seven-week-old Liam Taylor was the first baby to die after he had been brought in with a mild chest infection and soon collapsed with respiratory failure. Shortly after that, an 11-year-old disabled child was admitted and suddenly turned blue, dying soon thereafter.

After a fourth child, who luckily recovered, experienced a sudden arrest, the staff on Ward 4 found themselves perplexed as to what exactly was taking place. One thing all the cases had in common was that rookie nurse Beverley Allitt had been present for all of them.

Looking back at Allitt’s childhood, it was quite “unremarkable.” According to the report, she was known for getting hurt and injured on a consistent basis, and when she was in nursing school, she earned a reputation for repeatedly making up false stories.

It was later discovered that Allitt likely suffered from factitious disorder, formerly known as Munchausen syndrome, which is a mental health disorder that propels individuals to falsify, exaggerate, and purposely injure themselves to gain attention or sympathy.

So, how did someone with this disorder turn into a child serial killer masquerading as a nurse? Check out the video to learn the full story.
