Jed Clampett Rocks Out In This Hilarious ‘Beverly Hillbillies’ Clip From 1963

Even though I wasn't around when they were originally airing, I can't help but miss the old black-and-white TV shows from the '50s and '60s! I can't remember a time when I wasn't watching things like I Love Lucy or The Andy Griffith Show in my home growing up. Thank goodness TVLand came around at exactly the right time to fuel my young nostalgia-loving heart!

Another popular show to gather the whole family for after dinner in my house was The Beverly Hillbillies. Since we lived in the South, the hilarious Clampetts were totally relatable. I have more than a few relatives who remind me of Jed, Jethro, and Elly May! And of course, my own grandma definitely had a lot in common with Granny.

This scene is totally one of my all-time favorites. In the episode, the Clampetts are visited by their so-called cousin, Jake, who convinces most of them to try their hand at show business. Despite Jed's hesitation, the rest of the family dives right into all the glitz and glamor their kinfolk promises them. When they start to look completely unrecognizable in their fancy frocks, he's afraid they might be getting in over their head. Luckily, Miss Hathaway comes up with the perfect plan to shake them out of their silly phase by having Jed dress up in his own strange outfit.

Declaring he's ready to follow their lead, he walks into the living room in an outlandish silver suit to perform a song on a double-neck guitar. Seeing how ridiculous he looks really does the charm!
