BREAKING!! Don’t Reach For $100 Bill On Windshields – It’s A SCAM!!

Imagine you're out doing your Christmas shopping when you get in your car and see someone has left a crisp $100 bill on your windshield. Seems like a Christmas miracle, right?

Unfortunately not.

It's just part of a new scam according to Maryland's Assistant Attorney General of Consumer Protection, Karen Straughn.

As she tells ABC News, the victim sees the $100 bill in-between the windshield and the wiper and gets out of the car to retrieve it when the thief jumps in and steals the car. With more people out shopping during the holidays, Karen Straughn wants Maryland residents to be cautious of such potential scams. Straughn spoke out to protect Maryland residents, but this scam can happen anywhere.

While the Baltimore County Police Department has not yet received any police reports of such an incident happening, Straughn wants residents to be vigilant.

She also warns of a few other potential scams to keep an eye on this holiday season.

One involves a stranger offering to fix some chipped paint or a car dent for only $200. After the service has been rendered, the scammer will then demand more money than previously quoted.

The Baltimore County Police Department has also made citizens aware of a scam where a thief will bump someone in traffic. When the victim gets out to observe the damage, the thief will hop in the driver's side of the car and steal the vehicle. Be careful out there!

The holiday season is a time for good-will, but be alert so that you don't become the unwilling victim of a scam.
