The past few years have seen a lot of big (and positive) changes for LGBT rights. Not only is same-sex marriage now legal in all fifty states, but society as a whole is also becoming more and more accepting and loving of people who don't identify as straight. As a result, fewer people are having fears about coming out as gay, and that includes some of our favorite celebrities, too!
Even though the U.S.A. hasn't always been so accepting of people who identify as queer, that hasn't stopped folks from the past from expressing who they really are. Just check out these men who chose to defy gender norms all the way back in the 1800s! Luckily, many people today don't even bat an eye when they see a little boy playing with dolls or two women holding hands in public. It's so wonderful to think of how all these same-sex couples who got married on the first day they were legally able will now have the chance to live a happy life together, free from much of the discrimination that plagued members of the LGBT community just a few years ago.
While many people know that someone can be hetero- or homosexual, there are other types of attraction that plenty of us experience. One of the most common sexual orientations is bisexuality, which means that a person is attracted to both men and women. Plenty of us can't fathom being attracted to both sexes, and some even believe that people who are bisexual are just "confused," but really, it's the same thing as liking cookies and cake… Some people only like one, but there are plenty of people who like both!
Check out these celebs who identify as being bi. I've always loved number 11, but I have even more respect for her after hearing her ideas on love!
