Bikers Help Raise More Than $500,000 For Babies

You'd never think a drove of big, tough bikers would dedicate themselves to fighting for tiny, fragile babies, but then again, one should never judge a book by its cover.

Riding and raising money is what Bikers for Babies is all about. The annual event brings together hundreds of thousands of bikers across the country, united in one very special mission. Bikers for Babies helps fight against premature births, birth defects, and infant mortality. All of the money raised goes to the March of Dimes, a national organization focused on fighting against premature births. More than half a million babies born premature each year in the US, and if the cause is enough to tug at the heartstrings of these rough-and-tumble motorcyclists, then you know it's some powerful stuff.

Every year, the bikers are cheered on by people who know firsthand the pain of losing a baby. In the video below, you'll meet Heather and Dustin, whose son fought for his life when he was born at just 25 weeks. In 2012, the Kansas City Bikers for Babies and its 107-mile ride raised more than $500,000 for the March of Dimes. Heather and Dustin were able to bring their their son, then two years old, to watch the hero bikers zoom past him in their united front.
