Even though scientists and experts continually try to find answers, unexplained mysteries still abound throughout the world.
To this day, America still doesn't know what happened to the famed "Lost Colony" of Roanoke — and that's just one of the many historical unsolved mysteries across the globe.
But when I saw this bizarre and disturbing forest in Poland? I absolutely didn't know what to think.
Dubbed the "Crooked Forest," this batch of bent pine trees is one of the strangest — and scariest — places in Central Europe. Located just outside of Nowe Czarnowo, West Pomerania, Poland, the trees were planted in the 1930s, and they mysteriously "bent" 10 years later. Why? Nobody knows for sure.
Conspiracy theorists have been offering their own answers, but each explanation just seems stranger than the last. Though the forest looks like it could be straight out of a children's fairy tale, these trees are 100 percent real and 100 percent spooky.

The uniformity of these 400 trees is confounding. Each one is bent at the base at a 90-degree angle. But the mystery remains: what or who bent them?
One clue is that every tree is bent in the exact same direction: due north. There is much debate over whether that indicates a human cause or something more sinister.
Some have suggested that fluctuations in the gravitational force in the area could be the culprit, but there’s little evidence to support this bizarre theory. The force of gravity always pulls objects down, not sideways.
Some think it is possible that a heavy snow could have flattened the trees while they were still saplings, and that they never recovered.
Since the 'Crooked Forest' is surrounded by a larger forest where the trees grow completely straight, the 'snowfall' theory is probably unlikely.
Many conspiracy theorists believe that the bizarre 'J' shape is the result of aliens or extraterrestrial forces, as crazy as that may sound.
A more reasonable explanation is that the trees were flattened by enemy tanks during World War II. In this theory, the young trees would have been so damaged they’d have been unable to grow properly.
But again, this theory becomes debunked when you consider the following: why would such a small patch of forest be affected, and would the trauma of a tank really be enough to create such a deep bend?
While it might sound strange, some of the locals wonder if 'black magic' or a curse is afoot.
But the larger population believes the bent trees were probably planted that way on purpose. This theory takes into consideration the trees’ consistency and the fact that the larger forest was unaffected.
It's been suggested that during the 1930s, local farmers planted and manipulated the trees for construction material, most likely ship building. The invasion of Poland during World War II would have likely interrupted the planting, preventing the farmers from being able to finish and thus leaving the strange trees that are there today.
Whatever the cause, the 'Crooked Forest' attracts curious visitors every year, eager to come to their own conclusions about one of Europe’s most unexplained mysteries.
