We think we know ourselves pretty well. But we can discover all kinds of interesting things about ourselves that we didn’t know just by paying extra attention to our bodies.
For instance, did you know the shape of your nail or the color of your eyes can say multitudes about who truly you are? It’s true. And the fun doesn’t stop there.
Our blood types reveal why we act certain ways as well. Everyone has blood, but every human inherits a different type — either A, B, AB, and O (which are even further distinguished by negatives and positives).
In 1930, a Japanese professor by the name of Tokeji Furukawa published a paper claiming that people who had the same basic blood types (A, B, AB, and O, there is no distinctions between negative and positive) shared very similar personality traits. Since then, blood type categorization, called ketsueki-gata, has become firmly rooted in Japanese culture.
In fact, instead of astrological horoscopes, Japanese newspapers offer blood type horoscopes and matchmakers specialize in finding future spouse based on blood types.
There has also been plenty of research, right here in the Western hemisphere, since the mid-20th century that links blood types and patterns of personal health — which is truly intriguing. It’s even thought that different blood types may protect us from different diseases.
With that in mind, here is what science and ketsueki-gata has found out about every blood type. I read mine and it was fascinating…
If your blood type is A:

If you have type A blood you have some fantastic personality traits, according to ketsueki-gata. You are earnest, creative, sensible, reserved, patient, and responsible. But you do have a tendency to be a bit stubborn and have a hard time letting things roll off your back.
People may also find you a little intense as well. and this may be a response to the fact that those with type A blood have higher levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, surging through their veins. It you have type A blood, physical activities like yoga and Tai Chi are way more beneficial at cutting the tension and decreasing your risk for heart disease, than running or weight lifting.
Another great perk is that people with type A blood are less magnetic to mosquitoes, according to a study conducted by the Institute of Pest Control Technology. So rejoice in saving a few bucks on bug spray!
If your blood type is B:

If you have type B blood you are passionate, active, creative, and strong, according to ketsueki-gata. You are also a doer rather than a dreamer and have a tendency to get things done.
You can be a little irresponsible sometimes and have a hard time forgiving, but you always march to the beat of your own drum.
Those with type B blood are also very adaptable and flexible people. The blood strain developed in the hot savannas of eastern Africa and then pushed to the cold highlands of the Himalayan Mountains, and was spread to the masses by warriors that dominated the region.
Balance is of upmost important to people with type B blood and if you go to extremes, it can increase your risk of disrupted sleep patterns, daytime brain fog, depression, and insulin resistance, according to Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo, a naturopathic physician and author of Eat Right for Your Type.
People with type B blood should eat green vegetables, eggs, and low-fat dairy. It is also recommended that those with B-type blood avoid chicken in favor of goat, lamb, mutton, rabbit, and venison.
If your blood type is AB:

If you have type AB blood you're cool, controlled, rational, and adaptable, according to ketsueki-gata. You can also be critical and indecisive. Some people may even think you have a split personality.
One study, published in the journal Neurology, found that those with type AB blood were 82-percent more likely to have memory and attention difficulties, so be aware that you may need to little extra time to truly digest something.
It is also of upmost important that you retain a healthy lifestyle, if you have type AB blood. According to a Harvard University study, someone with AB blood has a 23-percent greater chance of suffering from heart disease than type O subjects.
Because of this, it is a good idea to avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoked or cured meats. Yet, you do have very levels of low stomach acid, so you are less likely to experience stomach aches and heartburn than other blood types.
If your blood type is O:

If you have type O blood, you are confident, optimistic, self-determined, strong-willed, and intuitive, according to ketsueki-gata. Yet, you have a tendency to be a little self-obsessed. You can also be a little cold, unpredictable, and a bit of a workaholic.
You don’t get stressed out to easily, but when you do, it’s very hard for you to unwind, according to Dr. Ginger Nash, a naturopathic physician, told Personalized Living. Because of this, she also claims that type O’s require more vigorous exercise.
The good news is that people with type-O blood are at a lower risk for many kinds of cancer, according to a study done by Harvard University.
But, since you have such sweet blood, you are twice as likely to be a mosquito magnet than those with type-A blood.
