Yes, Blotting Pizza With A Napkin Saves You A Ton Of Calories

The average American eats 23 pounds of pizza every year. But before digging in, many eaters will take a napkin and blot off the excess grease, a ritual often met by friends with eye-rolls and disdain. "You know that does absolutely nothing, right?"

Well, as it turns out, blotting your pizza actually does do something, and if you're watching your calories then be sure to take heed. In a recent infographic released by Labdoor, studies show that soaking up that orange-colored oil can absorb a reasonable amount of calories, thereby shaving a couple pounds off your waistline every year!

Blotting your pizza with a napkin is totally… by Buzz60

As reported in the New York Daily News, the average American eats at least 6,000 slices during the course of a lifetime. It's a delicious delicacy for sure, but did you know that blotting off the excess grease is a habit worthy of adopting?

By simply pressing down with a napkin or paper towel, the excess grease that rises to the top is absorbed. This, in turn, can affect your calorie intake in a positive way.

A recent infographic released by Labdoor says slice of pepperoni pizza from Dominos has about 324 calories and 117 calories from fat. Dabbing the pizza with a paper towel can soak up 4.5 grams of fat and 40.5 calories — which thereby saves you more than 390 grams of fat a year, and nearly two pounds off your waistline.

Some pizza lovers remain skeptic, but hey -- if it means being able to eat more pizza with less guilt, I'm all for it.
