Dating is one of the most nerve-wrecking things about growing up. Trying to find the courage to approach a person you like can sometimes seem impossible, especially when you know you aren't the only person on their radar.
Well, the good news is that we humans aren't the only species in the world who find ourselves having to compete with the attention and affection of someone we're interested in. Mating practices can be found all throughout nature, and some of them require the suitor to do a lot more than simply send a text message.
In fact, when male blue manakins find a lovely mate they want to impress, they put on an entire show complete with singing and dancing to show off their skills to the female bird. If coming up with an entire live performance weren't enough, they usually have to do their song and dance in front of the male birds they're in competition with.
Luckily for the female, she's able to sit back and enjoy the show, but once you see how talented the male birds are, you'll see that she certainly doesn't have an easy choice. Yeah, asking someone if they'd like to hang out with you doesn't seem so bad now, does it?
