Most people know the name Jordan Turpin. The young woman, now 22, became famous after she saved herself and her siblings from the horrific abuse by their parents, Louise and David Turpin.
Footage from the moment Jordan Turpin first spoke with police offers a rare glimpse into what the then-teen had to go through in order to get help.
Police responded to the Turpin home, which would be dubbed the "house of horrors," in Perris, California, on January 14, 2018, after then-17-year-old Jordan managed to call 911.
The video is hard to watch. As Jordan talks to police for the very first time, it's evident just how neglected the teenager has been. She struggles to find the right words at times, and seems not to know the word "bruise" as she shows an officer pictures of her chained-up siblings.
Jordan is clearly terrified during the conversation. "I live in a family of 15," she can be heard saying, attempting to convince the officer of the horrific true story. "My two little sisters are chained up," she continues.
“My parents are abusing,” she continues. “My two little sisters right now are chained up. They’re chained up because they stole mother’s food.”
The video shows Jordan's incredible bravery. The encounter with the officer led to a welfare check. Police raided the California home and found Jordan's siblings chained, beaten, and severely starved.
The Turpin parents are serving life sentences in separate prisons.
