Women and men are just as capable, smart, funny, and strong as one another. Yet, there are a few obvious and undeniable biological differences.
If you've ever had the chance to smell a man's locker room, you know what I mean. Then there's our friendly monthly visitor. For whatever reason, the most normal healthy sign of a female body (it means you can create life) gets treated like some kind of gross invader.
This video about how men would behave if they had periods is a pretty good representation of our biases.
One man left a pretty nasty comment on the Facebook page of a feminine napkin company called Bodyform.
He said that his once normal girlfriend transformed into, "the little girl from the exorcist with added venom and extra 360 degree head spin," when she got her period.
Instead of tearing the comment down, Bodyform responded with a cheeky ad that accurately sums up the cultural perception of women on their period versus what it's actually like.
"Hi Richard. We loved your post on our Facebook page We are always grateful for input from our users, but your comment was particularly poignant. If Facebook had a 'love' button, we'd have clicked it. But it doesn't. So we've made you a video instead. Unfortunately Bodyform doesn't have a CEO. But if it did she'd be called Caroline Williams. And she'd say this."
