‘Most Men Don’t Know That’: Boomer Shocks The Internet With His Knowledge About Women’s Periods

For most men, any mention of menstruation comes with exclamations of disgust. They’ll squeal like school girls, scrunching up their faces to holler “eewww” or “TMI.” But Nadya Okamoto thinks it’s about time for men to see things differently. As the co-founder of August period products and a nonprofit designed to combat period poverty and remove stigma, Okamoto states that because periods make all human life possible, we humans should understand the basics of how they work.

Sadly, that’s not the case for many men. But one older man shocked Nadya and quite a few people on the internet with his knowledge of how a woman’s body functions.

Recently, Okamoto hit the streets to learn just how much the average person knows about periods. She stumbled upon a man who impressed her. She asked the man, an older gentleman, “Do pee and period blood come out of the same hole?” He responded emphatically. “Absolutely not.” The man explained that urine comes from the urethra and period blood comes from the vagina. Okamoto told the man that most of the men she spoke to don’t know that. He was surprised: “Are you serious?!” he asked.

The man’s knowledge didn’t stop there though. When she asked him how often someone should change their tampons, the man said thoughtfully, “Obviously, it depends on the flow. But average, three hours, four hours.” He demonstrated how to remove a tampon and even drew a picture of the uterus.

The people of the internet — surprised by his period savvy — expressed their pleasure.

“Ok boomer, I’m impressed,” one user wrote.

“A walking green flag,” another claimed. “He needs a parade.”

Others hoped the man had the opportunity to spread the knowledge. “I hope this man raised a legion of sons,” another user wrote. “I never could get how men could claim to be attracted to women and then get so uncomfortable when the topic of basic female anatomy comes up.”

While the man stopped short of advertising Okamoto’s period products, he still got an A from her viewers. “It’s so good to see boomer men slowly warming up to the period talk.”

While some people were surprised someone of his age knew this much about a woman’s body, others felt like his age was an asset. “It took that much white hair to learn hahha.”

However he came upon the knowledge, we’re glad he decided to share.
