Life wasn't necessarily better back in the day, but there's no denying that it was definitely different, and there were lots of everyday things you probably never thought would become obsolete (or, goodness, vintage!).
While some of these objects are still around, they're now considered antiquated and are no longer part of the average American's day-to-day life.
But how we wish they were! We miss those simple pleasures: Putting on a new vinyl record, flipping through a Sears Christmas catalogue, and dialing up a friend on an old rotary telephone!
Please SHARE these nostalgic blasts from the past with everyone you know!
1. Rotary Telephones

Nowadays, dialing a number is as simple as pressing a few buttons, but not back in the day!
If your finger snagged the wrong hole, it was easy to dial the wrong number.
2. S&H Green Stamps

Grocery stores gave these out as part of a rewards program operated by the Sperry & Hutchinson company. There was nothing more exciting than getting one of these booklets!
3. Hot Rollers

Sure, regular old curling irons do the trick much faster, but there was something nice about having a cup of tea while waiting to fancy up.
4. Encyclopedias

There was no Google or Siri back in the day! Research meant a trip to the local library and lots of time spent flipping pages.
And remember all of the things you accidentally learned?
5. Fotomat

You could drop off your photos to be developed the next day.
It was always exciting to open up that envelope to see your pictures for the first time!
6. Table Trays

These came in handy for eating in front of the television or giving kids a place to have dinner away from the "grown-up table."
They've since faded out of popularity, but they were sure handy.
7. Typewriters

Sure, you can still buy them, but these days most people use them as decoration!
With typewriters, if you made a mistake, you had to either white it out or start all over again, not like today's computers!
8. The Sears Big Book Catalog

Especially those Christmas issues, which always gave you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
9. Cootie

There's nothing quite like this game (as simple as it was), especially the vintage version — far superior to today's model!
10. Old-Fashioned Hair Dryers

Remember those long, crazy blow-dryers? They didn't have a ton of settings like they do now, but they got the job done.
11. The Drinking Lucky Bird

Even though this toy didn't do much, it was mesmerizing to watch Lucky Bird dip his beak in and out of a glass of water.
12. American Bandstand

The show ran from 1952 to 1989, and Dick Clark was our guy! We always secretly dreamed we'd be on this show one day…
13. Fried McDonald's Cherry Pies

While we still have plenty of fried food, these are no longer quite as delicious as they used to be.
14. Film Strip Canisters

Those black-and-white documentaries may have been a little dull, but they sure beat doing schoolwork. Seeing these on your teacher's desk when you walked into class was always exciting, because it meant a good day of watching films ahead!
15. Bread Boxes

Bread boxes used to be a popular and dainty kitchen staple. These added pizazz to your kitchen while keeping your bread fresh. Why doesn't anyone use these anymore?
16. Spinning Tops

There was something so fun about watching this toy just spin and spin. We didn't need fancy electronics to have fun back in the day!
17. Tan M&Ms

These were around until 1995, when Mars decided that having two brown M&Ms was no longer necessary. These tan chocolate morsels will always have a place in our candy-loving hearts.
18. Metal Slinkies

Sure, these still exist, but they're plastic now. It just isn't quite the same as the ones that got could get all rusty and possibly cut your fingers.
Remember that old jingle?
"What walks down stairs, alone or in pairs, And makes a slinkity sound?
A spring, a spring, a marvelous thing, Everyone knows it’s Slinky…
It's Slinky, it's Slinky, for fun it's a wonderful toy
It's Slinky, it's Slinky, it's fun for a girl and a boy"
19. Metal Playgrounds

Speaking of metal, playgrounds used to be a lot more rough-and-tumble for Boomers!
Nowadays, asphalt jungle gyms and see-saws that scorched you on hot, sunny days have been eschewed in favor of soft rubber and plastic equipment that some researchers argue are too safe.
20. Being a Baby Boomer

There's nothing quite like it! We are one iconic generation.
