He Peels This Strange-Looking Egg. What’s Inside? I’m Completely Stunned.

Wanna be the coolest parent on the block? With only a few everyday ingredients, you can take a regular 'ol egg and turn it into one that glows and bounces!

Watch the video for a more in-depth tutorial, but the short version? You simply sink the egg in a glass of vinegar and leave it there for two days. After those two days, remove the egg and wash the residue collecting shells. The egg is soft, and you can knead it… (but don't press too hard because it may break).

According to the Exploratorium, when you submerge an egg in vinegar, the shell dissolves. Vinegar contains acetic acid, which breaks apart the solid calcium carbonate crystals that make up the eggshell into their calcium and carbonate parts. The calcium ions float free (calcium ions are atoms that are missing electrons), while the carbonate goes to make carbon dioxide—the bubbles that you see.

Simple, cheap and super fun.
