A 12-year-old boy has sadly died after falling from a balcony while onboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. The incident took place on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The preteen was on the Harmony of the Seas, which was wrapping up a weeklong trip and headed back to Galveston, Texas.
He fell off a balcony that was on Deck 8, otherwise known as the “Central Park” of the ship due to it having a lot of restaurants and stores, reported People.

In a statement to People, a Royal Caribbean spokesperson said, "We are deeply saddened to confirm the death of one of our guests. Our Care Team is providing support and assistance to the guest's family during this difficult time. For the privacy of the guest and their family, we have no additional details to share."

"I can’t even imagine the hurt and pain this family is experiencing," another person wrote.

In August 2024, a British man reportedly feel from Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas cruise ship near Croatia, according to the Independent. After over 40 hours, the search for the man was called off.
Then in 2019 on the Harmony of the Seas, a 16-year-old boy fell from the ship while reportedly attempting to climb into his room from the balcony, according to People. He had forgotten his room key and was trying to find another way to get back into his room.
