The parents of a third-grade boy are left reeling after every family’s worst nightmare came true. Fort Worth, Texas, authorities are searching for a driver who allegedly hit and injured 8-year-old Liam Park on the evening of September 5, 2025, and drove off.
The young boy was out riding a bike with a friend near the Mercantile Square apartments when he was struck by a black SUV, according to People. The boy said he lost vision for a moment after being hit, but a witness claims to have seen what happened with perfect vision: that the driver exited the vehicle, glanced at the boy, and decided to speed off, KDFW reported. Police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver.
“That’s really mean of them to just drive away and not check on me, and now I have skin injuries, and I’m hurt, and they deserve to get arrested,” Liam said, per KDFW.
The young boy was taken to the hospital with surface injuries, and although he was released and expected to fully recover, his mom says he is in pain and very “shaken” by what happened.
“I’m frustrated, I’m infuriated, I’m mad,” said Baylea Christiansen, according to NBC DFW. “I can’t believe that somebody would look at a kid in the road and just leave them there.”
“Every time I look at him, I mean I put myself in his shoes and it hurts. It hurts every time,” his father, Kyle Park, told KDFW.
Christiansen started a GoFundMe account with a goal of $9,000 to help secure legal representation, move their family to a “safer” living situation, and “pursue justice” for their son.
“No parent should ever have to beg for justice for their child,” the mom wrote. “But I will not stop until the driver who did this faces consequences.”
