At first glance, Bayezid Hossain looks like a very short old man with lots of wisdom in his sad wrinkled eyes. And while the wisdom part may be true, people are flabbergasted to learn that Bayezid is not elderly, but rather a young boy.
Bayezid, who lives in Bangladesh, suffers from a rare condition known as progeria, which causes him to age prematurely at eight times the normal rate. He also suffers from another rare disease called Cutis Laxa, which causes his skin to hang in loose folds. His health issues vary, from aching joints to broken teeth.
Bayezid's mother, Tripti, was heartbroken when she delivered her baby boy. She herself was only a teenager at the time.
"Doctors had no idea what to do," Tripti said. "They said they had never seen such a baby."
Because of his appearance, residents of Bayezid's community initially gawked at him and stayed far away. Children are so scared of playing with him that he can't attend regular school with his peers.

Neighbors, however, have gotten used to Bayezid and have lovingly nicknamed him "The Old Man." He spends his days playing with toys and drawing pictures.
Despite his physical differences, Bayezid's level of intelligence and wit may surprise you…
