When I hear the term boy band, it immediately flashes me back to a time when I covered my bedroom walls with pages from Teen Beat and genuinely believed I'd grow up to marry Justin Timberlake.
I'm still waiting on that proposal, but it's safe to say that the world has changed quite a bit since the teen heartthrob takeover of the late '90s. Sure, guys like One Direction and Justin Bieber, who's attempting to reinvent his image these days, have Generation Z screaming and crying like they're The Beatles, but there will never, ever be a time like boy band-mania.
That's probably why when a group of five teens known as "Boyband" took to Britain's Got Talent to showcase their act, the judges were a little weary…especially Simon Cowell, the mastermind behind One Direction and several other successful groups. He's kind of an expert on the subject, so one can understand why he'd roll his eyes and ask "Is this serious?" when they said they weren't going to sing, but dance.
Boy bands like "Collabro" have seen success on the show before, but this performance is definitely a first in the show's history. It just goes to show that you can't judge an act right away, because after only a few seconds of their routine, the crowd went absolutely wild for their "Uptown Funk" performance. Even Simon is rumored to have said, after the performance, that he thinks he can make them bigger than One Direction.
I won't give away the ending, but it's truly a moment you don't want to miss…
