Bruce Springsteen Pays Tribute To David Bowie With ‘Rebel Rebel’ Cover

On January 10, 2016, the music world lost one if its most beloved and truly unique performers with the passing of David Bowie. The Glam Rock icon lost his quiet battle with cancer, something he kept hidden from the public eye. Fans across the world are still mourning after the shocking news. He was one of those entertainers who, despite obvious logic, just seemed like they would live forever.

Before the disease took him, Bowie released his final album and filmed a haunting video for the single "Lazarus," in which the rocker seems to tackle the difficult subject of his own death. It's as if he decided to pay homage to himself before anyone else could. It's exactly what you'd expect from the man who pioneered so many innovative trends in the entertainment industry.

Considering the amount of timeless collaborations Bowie took part in with fellow artists like Mick Jagger and Freddie Mercury, it's not surprising that several have come out with their own tributes for the idol in the days following the tragic loss. One of the most touching I've seen is this performance by Bruce Springsteen while kicking off his 2016 "The River Tour" in Pittsburgh. Springsteen takes a moment during the show to share how kind and supportive Bowie was to him during his early days in the music business.

After the brief introduction, Springsteen and his E Street Band launch into a cover of one of Bowie's biggest hits, "Rebel Rebel." Of course, the band nails it in this touching salute to the legendary musician.
