Three songs into Joe Grushecky's concert at Asbury Park, New Jersey's Wonder Bar Saturday night, rock legend Bruce Springsteen crashed the show.
The bar crowd was completely shocked when the famous singer took the stage around 10:30 p.m. and then stuck around for a 15-song, two-hour set!
Springsteen kicked off his performance with "Never Enough Time," before leading into his other hits like '"Adam Raised a Cain," "Atlantic City," and "Darkness on the Edge of Town."
"It was thrilling," Wonder Bar owner Debbie DeLisa told CNN. "It was a magical night."
Although Springsteen plays a surprise set with Grushecky almost every year at the annual Light of Day benefit concert at the Paramount Theater, he completely shocked the crowd at Wonder Bar. Grushecky has been friends with Springsteen for over 30 years; he currently works as a special education teacher in Pittsburgh.
The surprise appearance quickly lit up social media, and the crowd inside and outside the Ocean Avenue club quickly grew.
"Even the whole street got completely packed with people," DeLisa said. "It was insane."
Fans applauded Springsteen’s surprise show on social media. On Twitter, one audience member wrote: "Bruce doing what he does best, stealing the show."
