The footage is disturbing. Al Vera, a grandfather from Florida, could not believe what his home surveillance cameras captured. While his two grandchildren, ages 10 and 13, were sound asleep on the couch, two armed men came into the home.
If you don't look closely, it will appear as though there is only one man rummaging through their things. Upon closer examination, you'll notice an accomplice holding a gun in the doorway.
"That really freaked us out when we saw that. We couldn’t believe it," Vera said.
The burglary occurred at 1:30 am in the morning. Vera, the grandchildren, and their mother were all sleeping. They didn't realize someone had entered their home until the next mourning when Vera checked the cameras.
The burglars got away with a phone and credit cards. But fortunately no one was hurt because they slept through the ordeal.
"The police said, 'Thank God you didn’t wake up or that my wife didn’t wake up.’ They said we probably would have been shot," Vera said.
Without the cameras rolling, the family never would have known there were intruders, which perhaps is a good thing — the children were spared becoming traumatized by sleeping through the scary event.
