The ocean is home to more animal species than we could ever hope to count, but one of its most famous inhabitants is the great white shark. These massive animals are known for their jagged teeth and ominous fins, but some people still want to get as close as they can to these beasts…without getting eaten, of course.
Even though they have a bad reputation, sharks normally kill less than 10 people each year. Still, the idea of being right up next to those sharp teeth isn't exactly comforting. That didn't stop these cage divers from getting in the water with this shark, though. I can't imagine what they must have been feeling when he started chomping on the cage. But even they weren't crazy enough to actually leave their enclosure and give the shark a high-five like this brave diver!
Maybe I'm just bonkers, but I think this would actually be an amazing experience to have. Sharks have been around for hundreds of millions of years, so being able to swim with one is about the closest you can get to hanging out with a dinosaur. I would just hope to be in a cage when it happens rather than swimming in the open ocean like this guy was when he came just feet away from a great white! I don't know how he remained so calm!
Would you ever want to be this close to a shark? SHARE this video with all your friends and see if they'd be brave enough to do it!
