Los Angeles Mom Stabs Pit Bull To Death As It Attempts To Maul Her One-Year-Old Daughter

A mother in Los Angeles is opening up about what it was like to contend with two pit bulls as they were attacking her 1-year-old daughter. The woman and her baby were visiting the woman's mother when the previously docile pets attacked.

The family explained to NBC LA that the dogs had no prior history of lashing out.

The dogs typically remained outside but were brought in to take a bath. For reasons that are unclear, one dog began to attack the baby. She began to cry, which seemed to prompt the second dog to attack as well.

The baby's grandmother, Margaret Morales, explained, "I walked into the kitchen and that's when I (saw) … my two daughters and my son on the floor trying to get the dogs off. Finally my daughter got up … and that's when I (saw) my granddaughter. I (saw) the dog was latched on her left leg. That's when I had to actually get my hand into his jaws and open them up and that's when he released her."

The baby's mother, Jamie Morales, eventually grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed one dog to death immediately. She stabbed the second dog, who survived its injuries.
