All it took was a couple of seconds for a stranger to hop into a car and drive off with two children as their mother went into a gas station — and it was all caught on some scary surveillance footage.
We've seen how easy it is for children to fall into traps of strangers thanks to various social experiments. For example, one emphasizes how simple it is for child abduction to occur and another shows how many would take candy from someone they don't know.
What happens in the actual scenario proves how easy it is for children to be kidnapped via a carjacking. It can happen in the blink of an eye.
In the video, the mother is seen running to the car to stop the carjacker from pulling off with her 10-year-old and 2-year-old girls in the backseat. Luckily, the older daughter thought swiftly and reached over to grab her younger sister and jump out of the car.
If you look closely at the :04 mark, you can see the moment the back right door opens and the young children jump out. According to news reports, the girls only suffered minor injuries.
Police were also able to identify the suspect, Cory Michael Ahumada, 24, who was in the store moments before.
