Carly Fiorina created the most tweeted about moment at the Republican presidential debate when she responded to Donald Trump’s remarks about her appearance.
Following Trump’s back and forth with Jeb Bush regarding the former's words about the latter’s Mexican American wife – "If my wife were from Mexico, I think I would have a soft spot for people from Mexico” – the host of the night, CNN’s Jake Tapper, brought the attention on Fiorina.
During the three-hour debate, Tapper asked the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard about her opponent’s recent statement in Rolling Stone.
"Look at that face!" said Trump, who previously bashed supermodel Heidi Klum's appearance. "Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!"
Although Trump claimed he was solely talking about her "persona," Fiorina fired back with a witty response.
"You know it’s interesting to me, Mr. Trump said he heard Mr. Bush very clearly and what Mr. Bush said," she said. "I think women all over this country heard very clearly what Mr. Trump said."
Fiorina’s statement received an overwhelming amount of applause from the crowd. It also led to an unexpected compliment from Mr. Trump as shown at the :40 mark.
