Carrie Underwood’s Amazing First Audition On ‘American Idol’

When Carrie Underwood won the fourth season of American Idol back in 2005, she had no idea she would go on to be the best-selling Idol artist in the history of the legendary show.

When she first stood in front of the intimidating judges, she shyly told everyone how nervous she was of the sometimes harsh judge Simon Cowell. She sheepishly tried to make small talk with the judges before blowing them away with a gorgeous a cappella version of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me."

The judges were floored by her performance, and Simon instantly saw how American Idol could easily pave the way to the next big country music star.

Along with her amazing singing skills, this young farm girl had another special talent as well, and at the 2:23 mark of this video, you can see it firsthand!

It's so interesting to see this young woman filled with huge dreams, knowing where she'll end up 11 years later. She had never traveled very far from home, and while her community certainly knew of her talent, it was the cows and chickens that heard her angelic voice the most.

Thankfully, American Idol judges swooped her up and gave her the audience she deserved. Just a few months later, she was on top of the world and even got the chance to sing with her American idols like Dolly Parton!

Since that famous audition, she's won countless awards and has sold millions of records worldwide! All thanks to her amazing voice and chicken-clucking skills!
