Firefighter Comforts Injured Child In Viral Photo

When tragedy struck on Interstate 10 in D'Ibervile, MS, first responders went above and beyond to help save lives.

An SUV containing one adult and five children crashed, flipping over several times. That's when retired Los Angeles firefighter Rick Camarena jumped in, knowing his training would allow him to help.

"I saw five kids ejected," Camarena said. "I know trauma criteria; I helped them." Camarena wasn't the only one to jump in: sisters Morgan and Mady Bogolin pulled over to offer assistance.

Everyone was taken to the hospital, including a child still in the car seat. However, one man's actions captured in a photo are now going viral.

I can't help but be reminded of police officer Nick Struck singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to a 2-year-old after her father was killed in a car crash. It was a touching moment in the midst of tragedy.

When D'Iberville firefighter Casey Lessard saw the injured child, it wasn't rocket science to try and find a way to comfort him.

Casey Lessard is a D'iberville, MI firefighter. However, he's getting some very special attention for the way he handled a recent incident.

"We do whatever we can to calm them down. The video calmed him down instantly," said D'Ibervile Fire Capt. Darren Peterson.

I think it's clear that these firefighters went far beyond the call of duty to make sure these kids were not only physically safe but emotionally soothed.

Please SHARE if you would want a firefighter to do the same for your child in such a chaotic circumstance!
