I think that most people underestimate cows. With their wide-eyed gaze and obedient nature, cattle have an undeserved reputation for being a bit slower than some of their fellow animals.
But fortunately, there are a handful of cows out there doing their bit to take apart that stereotype. For example, these sweet rescue cows are just as affectionate as any dog. Meanwhile, there are other brainiac cows out there totally capable of pulling off these complicated tricks!
And, before I watched this clip, I never would have guessed that there are cows out there with a finely honed appreciation for contemporary pop music! Fortunately, a farmer named Derek Klingenberg is out there correcting my ignorance.
Farmer Derek, as he calls himself on social media, is a Kansas farmer who raises grain and cows, and he seems to have a lot of fun at the same time! Also an amateur musician, Farmer Derek has a system where he summons his herd with the dulcet tones of his own trombone playing.
In this particular video, he simultaneously shows off his own grasp of the melody of “Royals” by Lorde, and his cows’ appreciation of the pop singer’s talent. Scroll the gallery below to see how his interactions with the cattle play out!
Farmer Derek is all alone in the field, just him and his trombone.
But after a few bars, a few inquisitive dots appear on the horizon.
Slowly, a crowd starts to gather to check out this open-air concert.
And by the time he's done playing, Farmer Derek has a whole crowd of adoring fans! Check out the video below to see the cows in action!
And if these hysterical and refined cows cracked you up, please SHARE on Facebook for everyone who knows that animals appreciate the "finer things," too!
