Admit it – we all look at celebrities for fashion inspiration sometimes. I think pretty much everyone has at least flipped through a tabloid when in line at the grocery store…but I tend to look to celebs for HALLOWEEN inspiration.
When it comes to costumes, some famous folks tend to pull out all of the stops with incredibly imaginitive costumes.
Stars like Heidi Klum and Neil Patrick Harris may as well be named the King and Queen of Halloween, with each costume seeming to top the last. Others play it safe or boring…and the rest?
Well, let's be diplomatic and simply say that they leave us scratching our heads with their WTF-inducing outfits.
We’ve compiled a series of the best and worst celebrity Halloween costumes from some of your favorite stars…which is your favorite and which has you scratching your head? Sound off in the comments!
…and don't forget to SHARE these frightening and fab outfits with all of your friends.
The Good: Neil Patrick Harris & David Butka
When it comes to Halloween, Neil Patrick Harris, David Butka and their kiddos are basically the cutest family that has ever familied. Last year, they went the spooky route, while past costumes include "The Wizard of Oz" and "Alice in Wonderland."
The Bad: Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson
Much like their acting in "Twilight," Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson phoned it in with these "costumes" that probably cost all of $5 at the party store.
The Good: Fergie & Josh Duhamel
While Kristen and Rob copped out with their costumes, Fergie and Josh Duhamel were a pair of overachievers with these incredible "Day of the Dead"-inspired skeleton costumes.
The Good: Joan Rivers
The cast of "Fashion Police" all dressed as other celebrities, but it was Joan Rivers' 2013 interpretation of Fat Miley Cyrus that stole the show. No twerking necessary.
The Ugly: Perez Hilton
Speaking of Cyrus, celeb gossip guru Perez Hilton bared it all in this Miley-mocking costume, and I wish I had some bleach for my eyeballs after seeing this.
The Good: The Kardashians
Frequent subjects of Perez Hilton's blog, the Kardashian family & Kanye West went all out with these superhero costumes. Looks like Kardashian sister Khloe is playing the Invisible Woman.
The Good: The Honey Boo Boo Family
While the Kardashians dressed as superheroes, the cast of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" dressed up as the reality royal family. The scariest part is that a man dressed in drag just may be the prettiest "Kardashian."
The Bad: David Spade
Speaking of the Honey Boo Boo family, David Spade went the lame route with their blah Boo Boo costume. We think he's supposed to be Sugar Bear, but…this costume falls short.
The Good: Miranda Lambert
While it was impossible to determine who David Spade was trying to be, country star Miranda Lambert was the perfect Honey Boo Boo, right down to her sash, tiara and patented pout.
The Bad: Beyonce
While Miranda went all out with her costume, Beyonce's angel costume was a total cop out. She may be Queen Bee, but we expect more from the megastar than normal clothes and a store-bought halo.
The Good: Demi Lovato
Like Beyonce, Demi Lovato hails from Texas, but when it comes to Halloween, that's where the similarities end. I wonder if her Halloween zombie character died of a "Heart Attack" or by falling from a "Skyscraper"…
The Good: Jessica Simpson
Another Texan songstress, Jessica Simpson decked out her baby bump in this incredibly punny costume. The mommy-to-be was the perfect Mum-my.
The Good: Katy Perry
While Katy Perry is no stranger to dressing up on stage and appearing on MTV, the pop star and her BFF dressed up perfectly as Daria and Jane Lane from MTV's late 90s cartoon "Daria."
The Bad: Seal
And the award for laziest Halloween costume ever goes to…Seal! Seriously though, just from the effort put into this costume, it's obvious why he and Heidi Klum didn't work out.
The Good: Heidi Klum
Speaking of Heidi Klum, there's no one who does Halloween better. Every year, the supermodel hosts a lavish costume party with equally lavish costumes, including a Hindu goddess, a transformer robot and a human body without skin.
The Good: Michelle Trachtenberg
Like Heidi Klum, Michelle Trachtenberg went all out with this costume, dressing as Tim Burton's "Blue Girl" or some twisted version of a smurf.
The Bad: Julianne Hough
Proving that not all Halloween makeup is a good thing, Julianne Hough raised a few eyebrows with this "Crazy Eyes" costume, complete with blackface makeup. Orange is in fact not the new black in her case.
The Bad: Ryan Seacrest
Like his ex girlfriend Hough, Ryan Seacrest is another Halloween fail with this "costume." Is that mask made of paper? Next year, perhaps he should go as Brian Dunkleman.
The Bad: John Stamos
There's no denying that John Stamos is one handsome devil, but gluing some horns to your forehead and smearing on some red gook does not a costume make. Have mercy!
The Good: Shenae Grimes
Despite John Stamos' makeup blunder, Shenae Grimes of "90210" fame dressed as Frankie Stein from "Monster High" to prove that with some effort and some awesome makeup, there's hope for Halloween success.
The Bad: January Jones
January Jones pulled the most basic of Halloween stunts, dressing up as Betty Draper, the character SHE plays on "Mad Men."
The Bad: Jason Biggs
Jason Biggs is proof that we're certainly not in Kansas anymore with this terrifying cross-dressed version of Dorothy from the "Wizard of Oz." Couldn't he at least bedazzle his sneakers?
