But for me, the best part of seeing my favorite singers and actors all decked out in the latest fashion is checking out their makeup. Even with a glamorous dress and perfectly styled hair, a look appears even better with a flawless face.
While women definitely shouldn't feel obligated to wear makeup at big events, they should also feel free to put whatever they want on their faces. But it takes a talented makeup artist to get the stars ready for the red carpet. Techniques like this extreme contouring take a lot of practice, but when done right, they can make a world of difference! I do my makeup nearly every day, but I could never make it look as good as a professional would.

This award-winning actor looked stunning with red lips, green eyeshadow, and killer eyeliner after last years's EE BAFTAs, and we can only hope we get to see her continue to pull off these bold and beautiful looks.

We're all used to Mila Kunis making us swoon with her signature smokey eye, but it was still a pleasant surprise when she arrived at the premier of Oz the Great and Powerful with this gorgeous minimalistic look. Kunis proved that she has beautiful eyes no matter what kind of makeup she wears around them!

We're all used to seeing this singer in outfits and makeup that match the bubbly persona she gives off in her music, so this dark look was a shocking (but awesome) change from the norm. With bold under-eye shadow and a dark lip, Perry blew everyone away at the 2013 Met Gala.
6. Jennifer Hudson
The former American Idol star and Dreamgirls actor put her best face forward at the 2013 Do Something Awards. Not many people could look that good with such extreme eye makeup, but Hudson looked so sleek when she combined it with a pale lip and silky-straight hair.

Rihanna is another star that loves to experiment when it comes to her appearance, but this look was a surprise even for her. She does a fabulous job pulling off the borderline-androgynous look while somehow managing to look amazing wearing bright blue eyeshadow. I wish my fourteen-year-old self could have seen this pic to learn the right way to put all that blue color around my eyes!

Jennifer Lawrence looked beautiful from head to toe at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, but it was her eyes that really stood out. Thanks to some flawless foundation, a nude lip, and some brown liner and shadow, and that gorgeous blonde hair the Hunger Games actor looked like a goddess on the red carpet.

The star of The Mindy Project showed off this flawless look all the way back in 2008. Her bright eyeshadow and gorgeous lip color matched her skin tone perfectly. Who knew she'd be such a big star in just a few short years?

She doesn't just play Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones</em>; Lena Headey has also shown that she can rule on the red carpet. With dark liner and matching peach lips and cheeks, Headey made us all want to bow down to her when she rocked this look.

Just like Lupita Nyong'o, the Precious actor has proven that when it comes to makeup, bright and colorful can look amazing. The star dazzled us with bright silvery lilac shadow, deep red lips, and rosy cheeks to accent her smile.
12. Kesha
It's not like Kesha to not want to stand out on the red carpet, but when she worked this look at the Calzedonia Summer Show, she stuck out for all the right reasons. The pop star ditched the glitter in favor of a glam-vamp style, with both extremely dark eye makeup and bright red lips. A subtle nose ring really pulled this dramatic look together in the best way possible.

Emma Stone has some seriously amazing eyes, and the coppery shadow she wore to the 37th Deauville Film Festival accented them perfectly. With peachy cheeks and lips and her signature red hair, Stone stunned us all with this gorgeous summery look.
