The song “Hallelujah” has been sung by countless artists. However, there’s one memorable performance that ranks awfully high when it comes to the song's best covers.
In 2010, the vocal quartet the Canadian Tenors appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and performed their version of the song, unaware that a big icon would soon join them.
As the group was singing, superstar Celine Dion unexpectedly walked on stage and took the performance to another level. It’s almost as great as the time she performed “The Prayer” alongside Josh Groban.
The audience screamed loudly when the Grammy Award winner made her way to the front of the stage at the 2:08 mark, but the group was still unaware of the legend behind them. (The shock value was similar to the moment the judges saw this young contestant on The Voice.)
When Dion approached the Canadian Tenors, three of the band members kept their cool. But, one couldn’t contain his shock. His reaction at the 2:22 mark shows just how surprised and happy he was by the fellow Canadian’s presence. The moment was so adorable that even Oprah couldn’t stop smiling!
The five voices truly flowed perfectly together. And just wait till you hear Dion’s impeccable harmonies starting at the 2:58 mark.
