She Lost Part Of Her Limb At Age 4. Years Later, She Makes A Chalkboard Leg To Travel The World

When a congenital bone disease forces you to have your leg amputated above the knee at just 4 years old, what do you do?

Do you spend your life letting the handicap get in the way? Or do you live your life to the very fullest despite it?

Reddit user devgal chose the latter.

After she graduated college, she decided to go on a trip around Europe with her prosthetic leg covered in chalkboard paint. Every time she arrived at a new city, she used her prosthetic as a celebration of that portion of her adventure.

In each and every one of these pictures, you can see how happy and full of life she is. She doesn't let her missing leg bring her down at all. With modern prosthetics, she can do pretty much anything that everyone else can.

Here she is living her best life in Paris.

Just look at that huge smile on her face.

All she had to do was spray the prosthetic with chalkboard paint.

The minor investment was well worth it for these priceless photos!

She met a lot of new people on her trip.

One of them even commented on her Reddit thread, asking her if they briefly met at a hostel in Vienna. The fellow traveler asked, "I was staying there with my girlfriend, we met you as we were prepping to leave; I was trying to make coffee at the time," to which devgal replied, "YES!! I did!!!! HI! I hope the rest of your trip was amazing!!!!! Sorry about wasting your coffee cup again. That machine was confusing."

Not all of the comments on Reddit were kind, though.

However, she had the most graceful, clever, and lighthearted responses to the snarky comments. That's a sign of a truly good human. She doesn't need the approval of others to be happy herself.

One user commented, "Are you normal and equal or are you 'different and special?' Pick one."

Her response? "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed."

Clearly, this isn't a person who would be open to an intelligent conversation about the topic, so she doesn't even engage. This is an amazing response to such a rude comment.

These views in Ireland are absolutely incredible.

She is so lucky to have gone on this trip and taken in all of these sights.

She got to experience all of the local cultures.

In Amsterdam, she rode around on bicycle like the locals do. When one Redditor asked politely, "Do you need to do anything special to ride a bike or does it just work the same as everyone else?" She answered, "Same as everyone else!"

Surely this will be an adventure she and her friends will never forget.

It's well worth the travel expenses, that's for sure. Just look at the size of that pretzel!

Boy, that waffle looks good!

After all the hiking, walking around, and biking, it's a good thing that there's so much delicious food to fuel up on!
