Step 1: Gather your materials. You'll need a tube of lip balm (any kind will work), scissors, a Q-tip, and a paper towel.
Step 2: Twist your lip balm all the way up. Break off or cut the balm, then discard it.
Step 3: Pull out the twisting mechanism.
Step 4: With your scissors, cut down the twisting mechanism. Then, using a Q-tip, push out the piece that held the lip balm.
Step 5: Your tube is now empty! Rinse and wipe down the insides with a paper towel, then replace the twisting mechanism on the bottom.
Step 6: Roll up some money, tuck it in, and place the tube somewhere you won't lose it.
The cup holder of your car (lined with a silicone baking cup) would be good spot, especially if you ever need emergency gas money.
Is a lip balm tube too tiny? You can do the same exact thing to an old marker.
Step 1: Unscrew the bottom of the marker.
Step 2: With a pen, poke out the ink tube. Clean the inside thoroughly.
Step 3: Roll up important passwords, phone numbers, or credit card numbers and tuck them inside the empty marker. Toss it in your glove compartment and never worry about a thief spotting your valuable information.
If you're heading to the pool or beach, an old sunscreen bottle is another perfect hiding spot. It's also great for keeping your valuables dry and sand-free.
