One of my worst nightmares living in NYC is that my apartment will become infested with bedbugs.
But the truth of the matter is that this could happen anywhere. The reason it happens so very often in cities, especially New York, is because we live in such close proximity to one another, and we come in close contact very often.
The bedbug problem is not one of class, or anything like that. Anyone can pick up a bedbug essentially anywhere.
The worst part about them? They're incredibly difficult to get rid of and expensive. The sooner you realize you have a problem, the easier and more affordable it will be.
And trust me, I've heard some horror stories about this. You're going to want to avoid it at every cost.
Luckily, there are ways to check up on your home to make sure that you won't ever have to deal with a full-on infestation of these nasty creatures. Some dogs have even been trained to detect where to look for them.
Even if you don't think you have them, you're still going to want to take a peek after you see this, because some people don't react to the critters' bites. Even if they aren't bothering you specifically, you could still spread them to those around you.
These are really important tips to know, especially if you travel a lot and spend a lot of time in hotels. Remember, even the fanciest places are susceptible to bedbugs.
