Christina Aguilera is always sharing tons of pictures on social media, but usually, we see only concert pictures and photos of Christina herself, which we, of course, also love. It's pretty rare to catch a glimpse of her entire family, but recently Christina took to social media to post a beautiful picture with an important message about blended families.
Christina Aguilera split with her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman, back in 2010. The split was devastating for her back then. She told People at the time about how she agonized over the decision. "You could definitely tell we were unhappy,” she said. Since then, we haven't heard too much about whether or not the two get along. But the singer just shared a sweet post on Instagram that revealed a bit about her family and co-parenting life. On her son Max's 12th birthday, Christina shared a beautiful photo of her family together. In the picture her son has his arms around her neck while his father, Christina's ex-husband, presents him with a birthday cake.
The image is so sweet, not just because everyone looks so happy, but because the whole family came together for her son's special day.
Christina Aguilera was definitely feeling the love on her son's birthday. The 39-year-old singer got together with her family, and that included her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman. They shared some special time together for their son Max's birthday this weekend.
Shortly after, Xtina shared a photo from the event on her Instagram. “We make blended families work. It’s a beautiful thing. ,” Christina wrote alongside the picture.
Her son turned 12, which is a big deal when you're a proud mama! Aguilera shared the picture with her 6.5 million followers. In it, Jordan, 42, is presenting Max with a chocolate cake. The family all looks so happy to be celebrating this special birthday all together.
A few days earlier, Christina took to social media to share sentiments for her growing son. And she had a lot to say!
She began, "Although you may have outgrown all the parties I’ve always loved throwing you since you were younger, I’ll never grow tired of celebrating the most incredible, amazing person you are…have become and continue to be."
Her post continues, "You have the biggest heart and caring nature, which I’m so proud of seeing and hearing from others who experience being around you – because those are rare, natural instincts that can’t be taught!" Every word of her beautiful message is so sweet and clearly filled with a mother's love.
"You just have a special way of making the room light up, commanding attention & bringing new ideas and laughter to any conversation or situation you’re in." The post is so lovely because it really documents Christina's feelings about her son at this point in his young life. She will be able to look back on this post for years, and so will he. Like a modern-day baby book!
"I love being your mom – thanks for constantly teaching ME new things in life and things about myself through knowing you, loving you and watching you grow," she shared. "I can’t wait to experience all the adventures ahead for you and what exciting things life brings your way. I know whatever lies ahead, you will always dive head first in knowing yourself, navigating the path you want to be on and sharing the light you shine no matter where you go!"
Of course, she ended the post with an old classic. "Happy birthday!!!!!! Love you so much Max. -Mom." I mean, we've seen celebrities give their kids birthday shout-outs before, but this one is pretty epic.
Cue all the tears.
Still, what's even sweeter is seeing that Christina and her ex-husband are committed to co-parenting and making sure their son feels the love all around him. While it's not always easy for ex-spouses to continue getting along, if they can make it work, at least for birthdays and special events, it can certainly make things easier for the kids. Christina and her ex seem to fully understand that.
Christina is also mom to 5-year-old daughter Summer Rain, whom she shares with fiancé Matt Rutler. Christina and her ex Jordan were married in November 2005. Max arrived just over two years later. The couple went their separate ways in 2010. However, it's clear from this recent post that they are working hard to stay friends.
Last year she told People that her kids are her biggest priority, and when it comes to working motherhood, she said that “it’s definitely not easy." She continued, “The key is truly making sure that [my children] always feel safe and always feel connected.”
Christina seems to be doing a great job of putting her kids first. While we don't often see much of them on social media, this was the perfect birthday share for her son, especially because the whole family got to be together. It's a beautiful thing to see.
