Heroic Mom Jumps 30 Feet Out Of Burning Building To Save 18-Month-Old Son

When you're put into an extreme situation, it is impossible to know how you will react. One mother named Christina Simoes shows that when a mother is put in one of those extreme situations, she will do anything to protect her young. Christina's apartment complex in Haverhill, Massachusetts, went up in flames. She and her 18-month-old son were trapped inside. In a single instant, Christina made the choice to save her son. The mother grabbed little Cameron and jumped out of the window, falling 30 feet. Christina used her body as a cushion for him.

“I just knew we were either going to die or we were going to get out of there,” Christina told ABC News. “Once I got to the window and looked down and I knew what I had to do.”

When she landed, the mom was severely injured, and as debris and flames continued to surround her, she told Cameron to run out of harm's way. The boy walked away practically unscathed, while Christina broke her vertebrae and endured six hours of surgery. At the time of the reporting, it was unclear whether or not the mother would walk again, but recent updates on her GoFundMe and Facebook pages indicate that, a year and a half later, the mother can walk again.

"There is no way that my life would be more valuable than his. He's my number one," she says, spoken like a true mother.
