Oscar Winner Christopher Walken Speaks Out To Save Wildlife

Veteran actor Christopher Walken is lending his star power for a good cause: an animal rights campaign.

The Stepford Wives actor joined forces with the Humane Society of the United States to encourage a "peaceful co-existence with our wild neighbors."

"The wildlife in our country is diverse, abundant and awe-inspiring, but when they get too close, in our backyards or in our communities, they are perceived as nuisances," Walken says in the short but informative clip. "Due to urban development, we are losing wildlife habitat leading to increased wildlife encounters. This often ends badly for the animals, who are killed using inhumane methods."

Habitat loss is often caused by human factors like pollution, global warming, and using land for development. It's steadily affecting many animals around the world, such as dozens of adorable orangutans saved by the International Animal Rescue. It's also a big concern for many animals we encounter daily in the United States.

"Thankfully there are humane and sustainable solutions that communities can implement," Walken adds.

Whether it be raccoons in a chimney or squirrels that have crept in a house, the Humane Society encourages people to opt for peaceful ways to deal with them.
