They Transformed This Old, Abandoned Shoe Factory Into The Ultimate Upcycled Destination!

Upcycling is one of my favorite activities.

It is so satisfying to transform a former piece of junk into something new and useful, like this cool wallpaper coffee table.

These kinds of DIY projects are fun because they give me the opportunity to use my creativity and work with my hands.

So when I saw the ultimate DIY upcycle project in Saint Louis, Missouri, I was absolutely floored. I really can't believe how these amazingly creative minds were able to transform an old, abandoned shoe factory into something so incredible. And talk about upcycling!

This group of DIY geniuses, comprised of architects, sculptors, and artists, has utilized hundreds of pieces of the city's old junk to turn a useless shoe factory into an incredible urban playground. They created this mind-bogglingly imaginative playground in one of the country's largest cities.

I think its time to take a trip to Saint Louis to play on it myself!

Set in the heart of St. Louis, City Museum is the ultimate playground for kids and adults alike. This incredible construction is located in a 10-story building that once housed the International Shoe Company.

Sculptor Bob Cassilly began City Museum after putting years of work into converting the abandoned shoe factory. He officially opened the museum in 1997.

Cassilly passed away in 2011, but the museum's features are consistently being renovated and updated by a group of 20 artists who call themselves the Cassilly Crew.

This urban playground is the ultimate upcycle, as it was built (and continues to be added to) with old chimneys, bridges, and construction cranes. They've even converted two old airplanes to make them part of the fun!

City Museum features several giant ball pits, an aquarium, several restaurants, and hundreds of feet of tunnels that help you travel between floors!

Oh, and did I mention that the rooftop also features a repurposed school bus that juts out from the roof?
